How to use Image Compressor
Compress JPG, PNG, and WebP images locally in your browser. Adjust quality, compare file size, and download without uploading your image.
-
01
Choose an image
Add a JPG, PNG, or WebP file and wait for the local preview to appear.
-
02
Adjust compression
Change the available quality setting and compare the estimated output with the original before saving.
-
03
Download and inspect
Open the downloaded result at its intended display size and check fine text, gradients, edges, and transparency.
- Accepted input
- JPG, PNG, and WebP
- Best use
- Smaller web and sharing files
- Processing
- On-device re-encoding
Example: reduce a photo for a web page
- Input
- A high-quality JPG exported directly from a camera or design application
- Result
- Lower quality gradually until the file is small enough while faces, text, and important edges still look clean.
Limits and checks
- The smallest file is not always the best result; excessive compression can introduce visible artifacts.
- Already optimized images may show little additional reduction.
- Keep the original because repeated lossy compression can progressively reduce quality.
Image Compressor questions
What quality setting should I use?
There is no universal value. Start high, reduce it gradually, and judge the image at the size where it will be used.
Why is my file not much smaller?
The source may already be compressed, or its content and format may not respond strongly to the selected setting.
Is the original image modified?
No. The tool creates a new downloadable result and does not overwrite the source file on your device.
