How to use Hash Generator
Generate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, and SHA-512 hashes from text locally in your browser without transmitting the input.
-
Prepare the input
Use text and hash algorithm in the workspace. Keep a copy of the original values or source.
Step 1 of 3 -
Choose the result
Calculate a text hash with the available MD5 and SHA algorithms locally.
Step 2 of 3 -
Check before using
Review the mD5 / SHA hash and the example below before copying or downloading your result.
Step 3 of 3
- Input
- Text and hash algorithm
- Result
- MD5 / SHA hash
- Processing
- In your browser
Example input and result
- Input Sample
- hello with SHA-256
- Generated Result
- A deterministic hexadecimal digest of the supplied text bytes.
Limits and Considerations
- Hashes are not encryption. MD5 and SHA-1 are unsuitable for collision-resistant security, and fast hashes are not password-storage schemes.
